Good mood in the renewable energy industry maintained throughout October – worldwide stock index RENIXX remains unchanged
Münster (Germany) – The mood in the renewable energy industry continues to be good despite a slight weakening in October. The corresponding business climate index of the International Economic Platform of Renewable Energies (IWR), Münster, decreased by 2.3 to 109.7 points (September: 112.0 points). Compared to the previous month of September, companies were of the opinion that the current business situation in Germany was better in October, but that things were expected to get worse in the future. “For the first time since the summer, the number of companies that are more pessimistic about the coming six months increased slightly,” said Dr. Norbert Allnoch, Director of the IWR.
On the stock exchanges, the international mood for shares in the renewable energy sector remained almost unchanged in October. The RENIXX (RENIXX® = Renewable Energy Industrial Index) finished with a plus of 1.41 percent for the month of October and, as a result, was able to remain at a level just below the 800-point mark. Since the beginning of the year, the global stock exchange barometer for the renewable energy industry has risen 22.47 percent to date. However, German shares in RENIXX mostly made losses in October. In October, Conergy shares lost 10.06 percent to 34.26 euros, Q-Cells went down by 4.02 percent to 31.00 euros and SolarWorld by 2.75 percent to 42.14 euros. Shares in the only German wind turbine manufacturer in RENIXX, Nordex, lost 1.32 percent to 11.18 euros.
