High global demand for wind turbines and solar energy systems is causing sales to climb by over 40 percent - Listed companies are benefiting globally / fast pace of growth in 2006 -
Münster (Germany) - The rising demand for renewable energy technologies resulting from increased oil prices and the climate discussions has been causing strong world-wide growth for listed companies in the renewable energy industry in 2006. According to the figures published, turnover for the leading 15 listed international companies in the renewable share index, RENIXX (Renewable Energy Industrial Index), has already increased to 6.7 billion euros in the first nine months of 2006 (comparable period for 2005: 4.7 billion euros) and thereby by 43 percent, announced the International Economic Platform for Renewable Energies (IWR) in Münster, Germany.
“For the whole of 2006 we expect growth for RENIXX companies to remain at a high rate of 40 percent and, for the first time, for sales to go way beyond 10 billion euros,” said IWR Director, Dr Norbert Allnoch. In 2005, the annual turnover for these companies was 7.9 billion euros, continued Allnoch.
