Renewable energy: business climate rises to record level at the end of 2006
Münster – In Germany, the mood in the renewable energy industry rose to a record level in December. The business climate index for the renewable energy industry, published since 2004 by the International Economic Platform for Renewable Energies (IWR), Münster, jumped by 6.9 points in December 2006 to 115.2 points (November: 108.3 points). Whereas the current situation was assessed to be better than in the previous month for the fourth month in a row, the outlook at the end of 2006 for the next six months is making companies particularly optimistic.
“The strong upturn in mood at the end of the year is due to the fact that the tax incentive program for renewable energy in the US has been extended until 2008 and that the new draft for a regulation regarding remuneration by the Spanish Industry and Energy Ministry in December was better than had initially been feared,” said IWR Director Dr. Norbert Allnoch. According to IWR, export prospects for companies will also improve significantly again because these factors which were making the situation uncertain no longer exist.
