Renewable energy industry: business climate back to normal
Münster - In Germany, the mood in the renewable energy industry returned to normal in February 2007. The business climate index for the renewable energy industry, which has been published by the Münster-based International Economic Platform for Renewable Energies (IWR) since 2004, fell sharply by 6.5 points to 105.9 points in February (January: 112.4 points). Both the current situation of companies and the future prospects for the coming six months are viewed more pessimistically than in the previous month. “The once euphoric mood in the renewable energy industry has gone back to normal,” said IWR Director, Dr. Norbert Allnoch. General stock market worries and the decline in the RENIXX, the global stock index for renewable energies, also contributed to this sudden mood change. After having achieved a record level of around 1150 points, the renewable stock exchange barometer fell by almost 100 points (around 8 percent) within a single week.
