RENIXX World: Renewable stock index extended to 30 companies
Münster - As of Monday, July 2, 2007, RENIXX (Renewable Energy Industrial Index) World, the global stock index for renewable energy sources, will grow from a total of 20 to 30 international companies from the renewable energy industry. According to the International Economic Platform for Renewable Energies (IWR) in Münster, Germany, companies will be added as part of a regular survey of the RENIXX composition and weight adjustment. Established in 2006, RENIXX World is the first index to track the performance of leading listed international companies in the promising renewable energy industry.
According to Dr. Norbert Allnoch, IWR Director, “New companies on the stock exchange, overall gains in market capitalization, and the increase in share transactions have enabled us to expand the RENIXX World base.” The aim of a maximum of 30 RENIXX shares has thus been reached earlier than planned, announced Allnoch. New companies listed on the RENIXX World index include the solar power companies Ersol and Solon AG, the biogas company Schmack Biogas, and the French wind power company Theolia. IWR will recalculate the final weights following the close of the market on the last day of trading in June (Friday, June 29, 2007).
Market capitalization of all 30 companies listed on the RENIXX World renewable stock index totals 65 billion euros, underscoring the increasing importance of this new sector. Free-float market capitalization, which is important for calculating the index, has risen to over 30 billion euros. At 1302.33 points, the renewable stock barometer has increased 40.7% since January 2007 (as of closing on Monday, June 25, 2007).
