IWR compiles the first basic cluster study for renewable energy technology
Münster (Germany) – The International Economic Platform for Renewable Energies (IWR), Münster, has compiled the first renewable energy cluster study. The aim of the study is to systematically analyse the value-added chain of regenerative systems technology of a region, a federal state or a country on the basis of the analytical framework developed by IWR. This analysis of renewable energy technologies, such as wind turbines, solar or biogas systems as well as the individual components and services, enables the targeted compilation of a strength/weakness profile for the research and industry segments within any economic region. "The basic concept, which has been applied for the first time as part of a study for the federal state of North Rhine-Westphalia, renders more precisely the local business and technology profile and can be transferred to any other region," says IWR Director Dr. Norbert Allnoch. In addition to the local profile, the focal points of regional research and industry become apparent, which can be specifically expanded into networks.
