A strong alliance for renewable energies
Good partners make us even stronger – this is the principle according to which Gesellschaft für Handel und Finanz mbH (GHF) have been working together in an alliance with Ventotec / ITEC / Ventotec Future Energy for around ten years. By the middle of 2008, projects amounting to around 510 megawatts and an investment volume exceeding 700 million euros have been initiated and operated in the renewable energy sector. This therefore makes the alliance of companies one of the largest project developers and operators in Germany.
Many years of experience in the renewable energy sector also enabled the alliance to quickly and competently respond to the massive interest from domestic and foreign institutional investors in taking on renewable energy projects, which arose from 2004 onwards. Thus several projects have been implemented with foreign partners, whereby alliance member ITEC has provided the technical and commercial management in accordance with international requirements. ITEC currently manages a portfolio with a capacity of more than 535 megawatts, of which 75 per cent are for external investors.
Whereas renewable energy projects were initially planned, implemented and financed on an individual basis, Ventotec now mainly conceives and structures larger scale portfolios. The alliance was able to impressively demonstrate its innovative approach in 2007, successfully financing a portfolio amounting to around 250 million euros through securitization in capital markets.
In addition to its projects in Germany, Ventotec is also planning farms in Spain, France and Poland during the next few years (totalling more than 900 MW). In the offshore sector, Ventotec Ost 2 offshore wind farm received planning approval from the German Federal Maritime and Hydrographic Agency (BSH). The farm, which will have a total of 80 wind turbines, is being developed from 2010 around 30 kilometres offshore in the Baltic Sea.
Ventotec Future Energy GmbH is concerned with all forms of renewable energies, with the exception of wind energy. The focus is on the conception, development and delivery of renewable energy projects in Germany and the rest of Europe as well as on all project-related tasks.
Founded in 1985, the Gesellschaft für Handel und Finanz mbH is a high-performing issuing company based in Leer, Germany, which has been investing in innovative markets with growth opportunities. GHF has floated 119 issues until now with a total volume exceeding 2.5 billion euros. Around 14,000 investors with more than 1 billion euros in investments are managed by the company alliance.
