Baywa r.e. Acquires British Photovoltaic Service Provider

Munich - Baywa r.e. has acquired the stand-alone operations & maintenance (O&M) service business that was previously part of the Green Hedge group of companies.

With this successful acquisition, Baywa r.e. is adding 160 megawatts (MW) of O&M mandates for photovoltaic (PV) plants to its existing operating portfolio in UK, bringing the total to 620MW.

Green Hedge Operational Services Limited is one of the most experienced independent PV O&M companies in the UK, covering solar PV operations management and maintenance. With the conclusion of this transaction, Baywa r.e. will now manage solar and wind power plants with a total capacity of around 620MW across Great Britain. The company moreover will extend its footprint of local technicians and SAPs, making it one of the leading independent players in the British renewables O&M sector. At a global level, the Baywa r.e. group now manages in excess of 2.2GW of plant capacity.

Matthias Taft, Board Member of Baywa AG, responsible for the energy business, commented: "With the rapid expansion of renewables in Europe and worldwide over the last decade, the technical and commercial operations management segment is becoming increasingly important as investors need reliable partners to take care of their operational projects. We have been involved in this sector right from the start and are now significantly expanding our activities in this area across Europe. We are delighted to have successfully acquired the O&M business set up by the Green Hedge group as this considerably strengthens our position in the UK and Europe.

The acquisition also includes 13 employees, all of whom will be an immediate asset to Baywa r.e.
