Latham, Albany / USA – The fuel cell company Plug Power participated in the 2018 Ohio Fuel Cell Symposium (2-3 October 2018) in North Canton, OH. The event was organized by the Ohio Fuel Cell Coalition. Plug Power’s CEO, Andy Marsh, and Vice President of North American Aftermarket Services, Tim Terrill, presented at the Symposium.

At the Symposium, Marsh spoke about the growth and promise of the hydrogen economy in the logistics sector. From material handling and ground support equipment applications, to long- and short-haul delivery trucks, to autonomous vehicles and drones, Marsh painted a picture of the hydrogen industry now and in the future.

Terrill, who sits on the Board of the Ohio Fuel Cell Coalition, presented about the rapid pace of hydrogen and fuel cell deployments throughout the state of Ohio. Plug Power’s success in material handling is emphasized in Ohio’s rapidly growing fuel cell corridor.

In total, Plug Power has commissioned almost 800 units in the state, including a long-standing deployment at Walmart’s Washington Courthouse distribution center. These experiences have allowed for the company’s rapid expansion into the on-road electric vehicle market.

According to Plug Power, Ohio has quickly become a leading state for fuel cell technology, with strong industry and academic ties to research and development, advanced manufacturing, advanced materials technology, components, and services. In addition, Ohio’s local and national congressional representatives have shown support for the industry enabling the creation of new, clean economy jobs for the State.
