Juwi Remains One Of the Top PV All-Rounders Worldwide

Wörrstadt, Germany - The internet platform Wiki Solar, which has been analyzing the market for PV power plants with a capacity of more than four megawatts ("utility scale") for years, has published its latest ranking.

According to this ranking, the Juwi Group continues to be one of the top companies worldwide in project development. The Wörrstadt based company is also one of the leading providers of turnkey construction (EPC) and O&M services.

Focused Juwi growth strategy pays off

Due to the size of their domestic markets and the project development characterised by local proximity, companies from the USA, China and India in particular take the top places in the "Wiki-Solar" ranking of the most successful PV project developers. Juwi has now risen to become the leading German company and is among the top three at European level.

About three years ago, juwi not only decided for a re-entry into the German solar business, but also for an expansion in the field of project development with a clear focus on selected, attractive international markets. Currently, the focus countries primarily include Australia, Greece, Italy, Japan, South Africa and the US. The project pipeline is expanding in all these markets. Furthermore, the company is continuously assessing the entry into further growth markets. “We are now beginning to reap the rewards of our strategic reorientation from the year 2017”," says Juwi CEO Michael Class, pleased with the development.

Juwi has already successfully established itself in all the markets mentioned: The construction of the Kozani solar park in Greece is currently pending. With a capacity of 204 megawatts (MW), it will be the largest solar park in Southeast Europe. In the USA, Juwi will build a PV portfolio with a volume of 500 MW for a regional energy supplier from Colorado in the coming years. Since the company was founded in 1996, Juwi has planned and built almost 2,000 PV systems of various sizes with a total output of more than 2,700 MW in more than 25 countries.

Projects in Vietnam and Japan contribute to good ranking in the EPC segment

Despite the focus on project development, Juwi continues to be one of the top players in the field of "Engineering-Procurement-Construction" (EPC) according to the Solar Wiki ranking. Three large scale projects in Vietnam and numerous EPC projects in Japan have contributed to this. Juwi is also successful in the category "Operations and Maintenance" (O&M), in which Juwi is also the leading European company. "The current statistics from Wiki Solar show that we are one of the few German companies to have established ourselves as a true global player," highlights Stephan Hansen, responsible juwi board member for international business.

Call for a sustainable new start after Covid-19 strengthens renewable energies

Away from the current challenges in the wake of the Covid 19 pandemic, Juwi CEO Michael Class is optimistic about the future. “Naturally and with reason, the current focus in all countries lies with fighting the corona pandemic. This is occasionally leading to some delays in the development of projects. However, we are also taking note of increasing demand from the economy and politics for a realignment of the global economy according to sustainable factors. Obviously, this also includes the question of how we are going to produce our energy. And in answering this question, there is no way around the cost-effective and clean source of wind and solar energy”, Class continues.
