Largest solar farm in BayWa r.e. company history is to be built in France

Munich - BayWa r.e. renewable energy GmbH is in the process of erecting the largest solar farm in the company's history to-date. The large-scale "La Coste" photovoltaic project in France has an overall output of 45.4 megawatt (MW) and extends to an area of 115 hectares, distributed over five sites in the Aquitaine region near Bordeaux.

BayWa r.e. is the main contractor for this project and will build the individual plants in cooperation with a regional project developer, the company said in a press release on tuesday. Construction has already commenced and should be completed by July 2014. The plant portfolio is designed to provide 60,000 MWh of power annually. The renewable power generated will be sufficient to propel around 30,000 electric cars over some 10,000 kilometres per annum, or provide renewable energy to around 15,000 households.
