BayWa r.e. constructs 19.5 MWp solar farm in England

Munich - BayWa r.e. renewable energy GmbH (BayWa r.e.) is currently constructing a solar farm with a total output of 19.5 MWp at the disused Parham Airfield in Great Glemham, Suffolk. Polycrystalline modules from Trina and Yingli will be used for the fixed tilt PV plant.

Construction work at the Great Glemham Solar Farm is scheduled for completion in October. The plant will be able to generate around 19,000,000 kWh per annum, which will be enough to supply approximately 5000 average British households with renewable energy. Over a 20 year period, this means CO2 reductions of around 277,000 t.

Currently, BayWa r.e. has a total of almost 40 MWp solar capacity under construction in the UK and a further 10 MWp due to commence shortly. In addition, the company has scheduled projects with at least the same capacity again for 2014. In parallel, it is expanding its network of local project developers and service providers.
