RWE connects solar farm to UK grid

Kencot Hill, UK - RWE Supply & Trading announces the successful connection of the 37 megawatt solar power plant at Kencot Hill to the UK grid.

The solar park has been constructed and commissioned by global downstream company Conergy. Upon ROC (Renewables Obligation Certificate) accreditation by the UK regulator Ofgem, Kencot Hill will be sold to Foresight Solar Fund Limited, a LSE listed fund managed by Foresight Group. Conergy will continue to operate and maintain the plant after the transfer of ownership. Today, a joint opening ceremony celebrated the technical launch of Kencot Hill in September this year.

Built on a disused airfield at Kencot Hill, close to Burford in West Oxfordshire, the new power plant is producing enough electricity to supply 10,000 homes in the local area. When compared to average conventionally generated electricity in the UK, Kencot Hill
