French automotive supplier introduces system to convert exhaust gases to power for vehicles
Frankfurt - Faurecia announced development of the world
The system, called Exhaust Heat Power Generation (EHPG), operates on the principles of the Rankine cycle. In a manner similar to the way power plants generate electricity, EHPG uses a heat exchanger (evaporator) that is placed in the exhaust flow. Thermal energy in the exhaust pipe is transferred to a fluid in the exchanger, producing pressurized steam that powers an expander, such as a turbine.
