Siemens Gamesa Receives Large Orders from India and Spain

Zamudio, Spain - Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy has won multiple wind power orders for a total of 326 MW from several leading Independent Power Producers and various Industrial customers in the country in different projects in India. The wind turbine manufacturer furthermore received an order from Spain.

In India Siemens Gamesa will handle the entire infrastructure needed to operate the projects together with the supply, erection and commissioning of 135 units of G114-2.0 MW wind turbines and 28 units of its G97-2.0 MW for leading Independent Power Producers and various Industrial customers in India. The projects (26 in total, with installed capacity ranging between 2 MW and 60 MW) are set for commissioning by March 2018 across several sites in India.

In Spain Siemens Gamesa has secured a new order for the supply of the turbines for Cepsa's first ever wind farm, a project with which the Spanish energy player is diversifying its business into the renewables arena. The wind farm, which is being developed in Jerez de la Frontera (Cadiz), will be equipped with 11 of the firm's G114-2.625 MW turbines for total capacity of close to 29 MW. Siemens Gamesa has also been engaged to operate and maintain the facility for five years. The wind farm is due to come on-stream towards the end of this year. As Siemens Gamesa points out, having installed 13,000 MW nationwide to date the company is Spain's number-one OEM, with a market share of over 55%. In addition, the company services more than 7,500 MW of turbines in Spain. Specifically, Siemens Gamesa has installed close to 2 GW in Andalusia, which is almost 60% of the region's installed base.
