OWP Butendiek produces first kilowatt hours

- 24 turbines completely installed in the North Sea

Bremen - The offshore wind farm Butendiek in the North Sea started operation of its first wind turbines. This is reported by wpd, the Bremen wind developer and operator.

All foundations, cables and the substation were installed according to schedule during the last year. Today the first of the 24 turbines so far installed started production and are feeding-in its first kilowatt hours into the public grid.

“We are very happy that we have achieved this important milestone. After all, the aim of the project is to produce renewable energy, harnessed from the infinite resource of the offshore wind”, says Achim Berge Olsen, Managing Director of OWP Butendiek GmbH & Co. KG and wpd offshore GmbH. “Now the project is focusing on installing the remaining turbines and completing the residual work.”

wpd developed the Butendiek project and is the co-owner and project manager responsible for the construction and operational phase.
