Another wpd success in Finland: Jokela wind farm to be completed in 2015

Bremen - Construction work on the Jokela project situated on Finland\'s west coast near the town of Kalajoki, is on schedule according to a statement released by wind farm developer and operator, wpd. Work on the infrastructure is progressing well in spite of rough weather conditions at the site with the result that the company will be ready to erect the twelve systems of type N117/3000 from the middle of next year. wpd recently finalised the contracts with turbine supplier, Nordex SE, for this project. The 36 megawatt project will supply around 119 gigawatt hours of green power in the future.

Finland is currently one of wpd\'s fastest growing markets. With an experienced team of nine employees from the office in Espoo, wpd is planning the construction of up to 150 MW of wind power in the province of Nordösterbotten and around 600 MW across the country.

\"We are delighted that this our second Finnish project is on schedule\", says Birgit Schneider, wpd\'s Country Manager for Finland and Sweden, \"and we are eagerly awaiting the first results from the neighbouring Mäkikangas wind farm which will be going into operation soon.\"

\"This latest success forming part of the overall project confirms our strategy of backing growth markets in Europe and around the world to complement our strong home market in Germany. The excellent networking of our employees abroad with our German teams has proved its worth in this process. In the near future we will realise further projects in France, Poland, Canada, Finland and Croatia using this concept\", explains Dr. Hartmut Brösamle, Chairman of the Board of Directors at wpd.
