New Zealand: Electricity Authority encourages switching of energy suppliers

Acting Minister of Energy and Resources Hekia Parata said, she wants consumers to take control of their electricity. Therefore, the campaign is intended to provide consumers with information about switching electricity suppliers, the ease of switching and the potential savings that can be made this way.

The average annual saving for households switching to the cheapest retail option in their area would have been estimated at about 150 dollar last year, said Parata. Nationally, that would equate to savings of 240 million dollar. To improve the consumers
