Juwi Signs Agreement with EDL to Deliver Hybrid Project at Mine Site in Australia

Brisbane, Australia / Wörrstadt, Germany - Juwi Renewable Energy, the Australian Subsidiary of international project developer Juwi, recently signed an agreement with Energy Developments Pty Ltd (EDL) to deliver a hybrid solar solution at the Gold Fields Agnew Gold Mine project in the Eastern Goldfields region of Western Australia.

The project consists of a 4 MW Single Axis Tracking PV installation together with cloud forecasting and an advanced microgrid control system to enable integration with the mine off-grid network. Together with the thermal power station, being provided by EDL, the project will supply reliable electricity to the critical and non-critical loads of the mine site.

The project builds on the success of the solar-battery hybrid project delivered by Juwi at the DeGrussa mine in Western Australia. As Juwi points out, for more than two years this project has provided a reliable power supply to the DeGrussa mine. Throughout this time the plant has successfully integrated with the requirements of the existing power system environment and exceeded expectations for diesel savings and power production.
