Anemometer Calibration: Deutsche Windguard Increases Service Scope and Reduces Measurement Uncertainty

Varel, Germany - Deutsche Windguard, the leading wind tunnel specialist, is extending its measurement range accredited by the German Accreditation Body (DAkkS) while reducing measurement uncertainty.

Deutsche Windguard Wind Tunnel Services GmbH can now offer anemometer calibrations in the measurement range from 0.5 m/s to 38 m/s. At the same time, the measurement uncertainty has been reduced to 0.25 percent over a wide measurement range. In absolute terms, however, the measurement uncertainty cannot be reduced to below 0.025 m/s. In the previous, long-lasting quality initiative, the fourth calibration wind tunnel with a nozzle cross section of 1.2 m by 1.2 m was also MEASNET accredited, Windguard announced.

"As part of our commitment to the highest quality, we have succeeded in reducing the measurement uncertainty by up to 60 % in a sustainable manner," says Nicholas Balaresque, Managing Director of Deutsche WindGuard Wind Tunnel Services GmbH. These extremely precise measurements were made possible by a comprehensive improvement process and state-of-the-art measurement technology. According to Deutsche Windguard, the Laser Doppler Anemometer (LDA) in one of the four wind tunnels, which is used by the Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt (PTB) as national standard for flow velocity, is one of the instruments used for this purpose.
