Foundation Set: Construction of The Kriegers Flak Offshore Wind Farm on Schedule

Stockholm, Sweden - In the Baltic Sea, energy supplier Vattenfall is building Denmark's largest offshore wind farm. Now the first foundation has been successfully placed.

72 offshore wind turbines will be mounted on the foundations, installation is expected to last until autumn 2020. The monopile foundations have been manufactured by EEW-SPC in Rostock. Transition pieces from Bladt Industries will be mounted on the foundations to support the 8.4 MW offshore turbines from Siemens Gamesa. The foundations will be transported and installed by Van Oord.

The erection of the 72 offshore wind turbines with a total capacity of 600 MW is planned for 2021. Despite the restrictions imposed by the COVID 19 pandemic, the development of the Kriegers Flak offshore wind farm is on schedule so that it will be fully operational by the end of 2021 at the latest.

The Kriegers Flak wind farm is located in the Baltic Sea, 15-40 kilometres off the Danish coast.
