First Solar to Supply Modules for Masdar City Solar Power Project

Tempe, USA - First Solar, Inc. (Nasdaq: FSLR) today announced the Company has been selected by Masdar Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company to supply 5 MW of its thin film solar modules to be part of the largest grid-connected photovoltaic (PV) system in the Middle East.

This system will supply power to Masdar City, the world's most ambitious sustainable development to date, with plans to be the world's first carbon-neutral, zero waste, car-free city powered entirely by renewable energy sources. The PV plant is being designed and constructed by Abu Dhabi based solar power system integrator Enviromena Power Systems. Construction has begun, and the system is expected to be commissioned and producing power by the end of the second quarter of 2009.
