Power Purchase Agreement: Enertrag And Orange Polska Agree On Long-term Wind Power Supply

Dauerthal, Germany - German Renewable energy service provider Enertrag and leading Polish telecommunications provider Orange Polska have signed a long-term power purchase agreement (PPA) to supply the company's infrastructure with climate-neutral electricity.

The electricity comes from an onshore wind farm being developed and built by Enertrag. The wind farm has a total capacity of 36 megawatts (MW). Up to ten Vestas V126 wind turbines, each with a capacity of 3.6 MW and a hub height of 132 meters, will be commissioned by 2024. The turbines will cover around 20 percent of Orange Polska's energy needs each year.

"The negotiations with Orange have been very constructive and having agreed on a long-term corporate power purchase agreement within less than three months underlines Enertrag’s experience as a provider of PPAs. We are planning on designing and implementing similar PPA structures for future projects”, said Enertrag CFO Simon Hagedorn.

The off-take deal is in line with Orange Polska's sustainability commitments. The company recently announced plans to reduce its direct and indirect CO2 emissions by up to 65 percent by 2025 compared to a 2015 baseline. The overarching goal is to achieve net carbon neutrality by 2040 at the latest.

"Thanks to another Power Purchase Agreement, we will be halfway to meet our climate ambitions. I am glad that in this way we are contributing to the development of renewable capacities in Poland”, said Orange Polska CEO Julien Ducarroz.
