EU And Germany Breaks Solar Record - New All-Time High in 2022

Muenster, Germany - Solar systems in Germany produced electricity for the first time on 17 July 2022 with a capacity of more than 38,000 MW and fed it into the power grids.

A new output all-time high for solar energy was also measured in the 27 EU countries. On July 19, 2022, solar panels fed electricity with 92,400 MW of capacity. This surpassed the previous all-time high from 2021. This is the result of an analysis by the IWR of data from European grid operators.

In Germany, according to the plans of German government, the expansion of solar energy is to proceed much faster. By 2030, it is planned that the installed solar capacity will increase to 215,000 MW, currently (July 2022) it is around 64,000 MW.

With the "Easter Package", numerous changes to laws and regulations have been initiated. In addition to solar roofs, more open spaces will also be able to be used in the future. In addition, the feed-in tariff for full feeders who feed all solar power directly into the grid will be improved.
