On Course For Growth: PNE AG Acquires Majority Stake In Spanish EE Developer

Cuxhaven, Germany - The Spanish market for renewable energies (RE) is characterized by excellent natural conditions for solar and wind energy projects and an attractive legal framework. By taking over the majority in a Spanish project developer, PNE AG succeeds in entering the Spanish market.

PNE AG has acquired 51 percent of the shares in Coliaenergia ESPAÑA, S.L, (KOLYA), a Spanish developer for large solar projects based in Albacete. This increases PNE's PV project pipeline to a total capacity of more than 4,200 megawatts peak (MWp). By entering the Spanish market, PNE sees a wide range of opportunities to further develop the company's business model.

PNE PV project pipeline with strong growth to 4,216 MWp

PNE AG has successfully built up its solar business in recent years and already has a PV project pipeline of 2,408 MWp (as of June 30, 2022). Especially in the second quarter of 2022, this rose again sharply from 1,423 MWp (as of March 31, 2022) by 985 MWp to the current level. With the majority aquisition of KOLYA, the PV pipeline has grown significantly by around 1,800 MWp to 4,216 MWp.

At the same time, PNE AG enters the Spanish market with the acquisition. The sellers of KOLYA are Consultoria Industrial Beaguihe, S.L. and Garisun Renovables S.L. The purchase price is in the single-digit million range and, according to PNE, depends in part on the success of the project development. Both parties have agreed not to disclose the specific amount.

The KOLYA team currently consists of two managing directors and six employees. The project developer's portfolio also includes the first areas for the development of wind projects and complements the technology spectrum.

"The acquisition of the majority stake in KOLYA is an important cornerstone in our strategic development in becoming a Clean Energy Solutions Provider," PNE CEO Markus Lesser welcomes the transfer. "We see further attractive prospects for our activities in this area and look forward to working with our new partners," Lesser continued.
