Energiequelle Commissions Nordex Wind Farm in Finland

Helsinki, Finland - Energiequelle GmbH has commissioned its second Finnish wind farm project. The Konttisuo wind farm, which was built 20 kilometers southeast of the municipality of Soini on the border between Southern Ostrobothnia and Central Finland, comprises seven turbines from the manufacturer Nordex with a total output of 29.96 MW.

Energiequelle will be responsible for the technical and commercial management of the turbines, and a 25-year maintenance contract has been signed with Nordex.

The N149/4.0-4.5 turbines are equipped with an anti-icing system in the cold climate version. The energy-efficient heating of this system prevents ice from accumulating on the rotor blades and turbines.

Bagnall Energy Limited, managed by Downing LLP (Downing), acquired the Konttisuo wind farm back in May 2022. The acquisition of the wind farm represents Downing's fourth investment in the wind power industry and its first in Finland. "We are pleased to expand our portfolio to Finland. Projects like the Konttisuo wind farm are key to decarbonization and increasing energy security," commented Tom Williams, Head of Energy & Infrastructure at Downing.

The opening of the wind farm will be celebrated on October 29, 2022, together with the citizens of the community.

The Konttisuo wind farm is the second project Energiequelle has implemented in Finland since entering the market in 2015, following Paltusmäki (five turbines). Currently, there are three more wind farms under construction and an additional 2,500 MW in the pipeline.
