Hydrogen Economy: Project to Decarbonize Industrial Processes With Nordex Electrolyser Launched
Cáseda, Spain - A project has been launched in the Spanish region of Navarra to help decarbonize the processes of industrial companies in the region with the help of green hydrogen.
The project is managed by Nordex Electrolyzers. The project consortium also includes the companies Viscofan, Ain and Uraphex. As part of the project, the largest electrolyzer ever developed and manufactured entirely in Spain by Nordex is to be installed in Viscofan's facilities in Cáseda.
Together, the partners want to pool knowledge and resources and develop advanced technologies and instruments for plant management in order to optimize the production of green hydrogen. Nordex's 500 kW prototype can produce more than 10 kg of hydrogen per hour, which will be used as a substitute for natural gas in the generation of steam in Viscofan's already adapted equipment, thus contributing to the decarbonization of the plant.
The H2OP project has received a total grant of around 840,000 euros, financed by the Government of Navarra and the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF). According to the companies, these funds are necessary to carry out the research and development work required to achieve the objectives.
Nordex Electrolyzers is a Nordex Group company founded in 2022 with the aim of developing and manufacturing alkaline pressurized electrolyzers. With headquarters in Navarra and Puertollano in Spain and a highly specialized team, Nordex Electrolyzers has developed 50 kW and 500 kW prototypes. The company is currently focusing on the development of a 2.5 MW prototype.
