Financial Close for Energiekontor-Windfarm Hyndburn
Bremen - Energiekontor has reached financial close for its 12 turbine Hyndburn wind farm in Lancashire, England. The wind farm, scheduled to be commissioned in early September 2012, will use REpower MM82 turbines giving an installed capacity of 24.6 MW with an investment volume of 75 million Euros.
Thomas Walther, Board Member, Energiekontor AG said: \"Energiekontor was a first mover in wind energy in Europe. Financial close for Hyndburn - also a result of the good cooperation with NORD/LB– is a very important step for the project and a positive signal for our other projects in the UK.\" Guy Wilson, UK Director, added \"This is a real milestone achievement for our UK team based in Leeds, who are now champing at the bit to deliver the next project from our ca. 400 MW pipeline and we plan to reach financial close for a further project in 2011\".

Energiekontor was founded in 1990 as a private and independent company to plan wind farms and quickly diversified into fund sales and management of its operating wind farms. The AG has been listed on the stock market in Frankfurt since 2000. The majority shareholders are the founders of the company. Since 1990, Energiekontor has developed 77 wind farms in Germany, Portugal and the UK with a total capacity of 515 MW and an investment volume of around 750 million Euros.
