Deutsche WindGuard Offshore supports Nordsee Two in 2021 tender

- Comprehensive technical services for North Sea site N-3.8 from one single source

Varel (renewablepress) - Deutsche WindGuard Offshore was appointed by Nordsee Two GmbH to provide comprehensive support in preparing its bid for N-3.8 offshore wind site in the German North Sea. The bidding process for this site with a total output of 433 Megawatts will close September 1st, 2021. Nordsee Two, the German subsidiary of Northland Power (85%) and RWE Renewables (15%) benefits from a “right of entry” as compensation measure for companies who held development rights in the respective areas prior to the introduction of the new central tender model.

To back up Nordsee Two’s business case with the best possible estimate of cost and revenue, Deutsche WindGuard combined extensive technical expertise from a wide range of disciplines and provided the customer with an optimized turbine layout, in-depth site assessment and profound energy yield assessment. Additionally, Deutsche WindGuard’s offshore experts from Varel, Germany, elaborated concept foundation designs as a basis for an RFP.

“At Deutsche WindGuard, we have the entire expert knowledge in one place,” says Niels Erdmann, Managing Director of Deutsche WindGuard Offshore and Head of Technical Due Diligence Projects, “thus, we were able to provide Nordsee Two with the exact tailor-made service required – and all from one single source.” The repeated cooperation between Deutsche WindGuard and Nordsee Two results from a long-standing business relation, as Tim Kittelhake, Managing Director of Nordsee Two, points out: “In this project, we once again appreciate Deutsche WindGuard’s high flexibility and outstanding technical expertise.”

“We are pleased that, beyond this project, Nordsee Two has also commissioned us to develop concepts for an overall cluster solution,” Sven Bicker, Managing Director of Deutsche WindGuard Offshore, looks ahead, “especially the connection of N-3.8 with the nearby area N-3.5, part of the 2023 bidding round, and further planning will enable significant synergies.”?
