European Technology Platform for Wind Energy (TPWind) to outline vision for wind energy sector
Hamburg, Germany - In its recently published Strategic Research Agenda the European Technology Platform for Wind Energy (TPWind) outlined three stages of development for the European wind energy sector.
According to this during the first stage (until 2020) primarily the Western European market will go from strength to strength while the market in Central and Eastern Europe is developing alongside. As more and more major offshore projects are implemented, competition from low-wage countries is increasing. During the second stage (until 2030) further cost reductions as well as the implementation of offshore wind farms in deep water are in focus. The wind market is maturing in all areas of application and European exports are increasing. Regarding the third stage (until 2050) the survey is predicting offshore and repowering as most important European business segments
