Grid Stabilization: WindGuard Certification and Plaspo Sign MoU

Varel, Germany - The South Korean power converter manufacturer Plaspo and WindGuard Certification GmbH have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).

On behalf of the South Korean government, the two companies intend to jointly develop and build a measurement container for carrying out Fault-Ride-Through (FRT) tests for the Korean 33 KV grid. FRT containers simulate artificial fault conditions at grid connection points. They are used to prove capabilities of grid stabilization of a wind turbine and its adherence to the medium voltage grid guidelines.

In the last two years, WindGuard Certification has successfully delivered three units of its new generation of FRT test containers. „The USP of our containers – like its compact build, the simple and safe appliance as well as the reduced loads on the public grid during testing – apparently appeal to customers outside of Europe as well”, says Damian Slowinski, head of WindGuard Certification’s test laboratory.
