Electricity Market: Innogy Builds Tenth Wind Farm in Poland
Essen, Germany - Despite the high share of lignite and hard coal in the electricity market in Poland, the country is also focusing on the expansion of renewable energies. In this market environment, the energy supplier Innogy SE is continuing to expand its presence in the Polish wind energy market. But Innogy is also active on the Polish solar market.
Poland is an important core market for Innogy. The company operates eight onshore wind farms with a total installed capacity of over 240 MW. The wind farms are located in four regions: Nowy Staw, near Gdansk, Opalenica in the Poznan region, Krzecin and Tychowo in Western Pomerania. The wind farms Suwalki, Piecki and Taciewo are located in close proximity to one another in Podlachia in north-eastern Poland.
In addition to its activities in the onshore wind energy sector, Innogy has successfully entered the Polish solar market. After Stawiec, Innogy's first Polish photovoltaic project, the energy company moved a step closer to implementing 42 additional ground-mounted solar farms by winning a Polish CfD auction for projects up to one megawatt.
