In March Nordex Received an Order for the Supply of Seven N149 Turbines in Finland

Hamburg, Kallinchen / Germany - In March 2020, the German wind power developer Energiequelle placed an order to supply and install seven Nordex N149/4.0-4.5 turbines in Finland. The project also includes a Premium Service Agreement covering 25 years.

The 29.96 MW "Konttisuo" wind farm featuring the turbines with a maximum operation mode of 4,280 kW will be built approximately 20 kilometres southeast of the municipality of Soini, on the border of Southern Ostrobothnia and Central Finland. According to Nordex, the installation and grid connection of the turbines will take place in 2021.

Energiequelle orders special cold climate version of Nordex turbines

Nordex will supply cold-climate versions of the machines, which will also include the Nordex Anti-icing System. The energy-efficient heating of this system prevents ice from accumulating on the rotor blades of the turbines. As this negates the requirement to stop or reduce the operation of the turbines while the Anti-icing System is in operation, it significantly reduces yield losses and shutdowns resulting from icing, compared to turbines without such a system, Nordex points out.

"We are pleased that we can draw on Nordex's technological progress and extensive experience on the Finnish market for our Konttisuo project and are firmly convinced that with the N149 we have selected the optimum turbine type for our project," says Nils Borstelmann, Country Manager Energiequelle in Finland.

Energiequelle realizes revenue growth of more than 20 percent in 2019

Since 1997, Energiequelle GmbH has been internationally active as a project developer and operator of wind energy, biomass and photovoltaic plants as well as substations and storage facilities. The head office of the company is Kallinchen near Berlin, further locations are in Bremen, Oldenburg, Hannover, Putlitz, Penzing, Erfurt, Dresden, Rostock, Leipzig, Guntersblum as well as Rennes, Dijon and Royan (France) and in Helsinki (Finland). With more than 250 employees and more than 750 built plants with a total capacity of approx. 1,400 MW, Energiequelle is a leading company in the industry.

As Energiequelle points out, despite the challenging political conditions, especially in Germany, the company can look back on a succesfull year with a turnover, that increased 22 percent from the previous year to 87 million euros in 2019. The result is based on the construction of 16 wind power plants, eleven of which in Germany and five in France. The total output of the wind farms is 46.3 MW. In addition, a small 750 KWp photovoltaic project was completed in Brandenburg, Germany.

According to the company, Energiequelle has a strong project pipeline for the upcoming years. 35 wind power plants with a total output of 120 MW will be built within the next two years, and several photovoltaic systems are planned in Germany and other countries. The operational management department is expected to be managing 2 GW by 2025 in at least four countries. In order to manage the large project portfolio in the best possible way, the company opened two new offices in Leipzig and Guntersblum.
