Green Hydrogen: RWE joins "European Clean Hydrogen Alliance
Essen - The recently launched "European Clean Hydrogen Alliance" is part of the European hydrogen strategy. It is committed to an ambitious expansion of hydrogen (H2) use by 2030.
Against the background of its strategic orientation with a strong focus on the expansion of renewable energies, the energy comypany RWE will participate in the alliance initiated by the EU Commission and has declared its accession.
In RWE's view, hydrogen offers great opportunities for the energy transition and also for the company itself. In addition to RE capacities for the generation of renewable electricity as the basis for the production of green hydrogen, RWE has the know-how and suitable locations to produce H2 itself, for example in electrolysers. The trading business and the company's own gas storage facilities also offer options for providing potential customers with hydrogen according to their needs, according to RWE.
With the European Clean Hydrogen Alliance, the EU wants to build its global leadership in hydrogen. This should contribute to the EU goal to reach carbon neutrality by 2050.
