Nordex Successful in Germany and Brazil
Hamburg, Germany - In the first half of 2020, Nordex took the lead in the ranking of the most frequently approved turbine types in Germany with the N149 turbine. Nordex also achieved a major interim success in the sale of the Nordex N117 turbine.
Nordex takes the lead in terms of approved turbine types in the first half of the year
Nordex has achieved particular success with its N149 turbine from the Delta4000 series. With worldwide more than 5,100 MW already sold more than 1,100 times around the world, this model was the most frequently approved wind turbine in Germany in the first half of 2020. A total of 292 wind turbines with 30 different WTG types were approved in Germany in the first six months of 2020. The most frequently approved turbine type with 46 turbines was the N149, according to Nordex. As Nordex points out, this is clear from data released by the German Bundesnetzagentur and an evaluation by the FA Wind (2020) on the expansion of onshore wind power in the first half of 2020.
At the same time, the successful N117 model, which has been tried and tested for many years, also achieved a new milestone: With a repowering order from its customer BayWa r.e. for eight N117/3600 turbines in mid-2020 the Nordex Group has sold more than 800 turbines of this type in Germany alone since the first order in 2011. In BayWa r.e's repowering project "Uetze-Süd" in Lower Saxony, the installed capacity of the wind farm will be increased by a factor of 2.4 by replacing the old S70/1500 turbines with eight N117 turbines. Installation is due to begin at the beginning of 2021 with commissioning scheduled for the second quarter May 2021. In a second repowering project of further S70/1500 turbines in the "Uetze-Nord" wind farm, BayWa r.e is also planning to use N149 turbines in the ongoing building permission process.
Nordex receives 27.2 MW order from Brazil
However, in addition to the N149 WTG from the Delta4000 series and the N117 turbine, the Hamburg-based manufacturer of wind turbines is also successful with other turbine types from its portfolio. The company has now received another order for AW132/3465 wind turbines from Brazil. The customer is Nordex's new customer TODA Energia do Brasil, a subsidiary of the Japanese TODA Corporation. Nordex is supplying eight turbines for a 27.7 MW wind farm. The contract also covers the servicing of the turbines for a period of 15 years. Construction is scheduled to start in March 2021. The wind power project is located in the 2.4 GW Serra Branca wind and solar cluster of the French developer Voltalia in north-eastern Brazil. Voltalia is responsible for the infrastructure work and the operation of the turbines for TODA Energia. The Nordex Group will be erecting the eight turbines on 120-meter concrete towers produced at its local plant in Areia Branca in Rio Grande do Norte. Nordex has already supplied turbines with a capacity of over 341 MW for the 2.4 GW cluster.
Stock on recovery course in August
Nordex stock has recovered substantially from the steep slump to an annual low of EUR 5.5 in the wake of the corona crash in March 2020. In August, Nordex stock has gained a substantial 13 percent to date to a current price of EUR 10.81 (August 31, 2020, 15:15, Stuttgart Stock Exchange). Compared with the price at the turn of the year, Nordex stock is thus still down by about 11 percent.
