VSB Group Scores with 300 MW Wind Energy Deal in Poland

Dresden, Germany / Wroclaw, Poland / Zug, Switzerland - The Polish wind energy market is developing with increasing dynamics.

In this market environment, the Dresden-based RE developer and service provider VSB together with its Swiss majority shareholder Partners Group sets standards with the purchase of a 300 MW wind onshore portfolio. With this deal the VSB Group makes an important step on the Polish wind market and for the expansion of the group of companies. The sites of the wind energy projects are located in the Wielkopolska Voivodeship and show different development phases. The parties have agreed not to disclose the purchase price or details of the planning.

"Poland has enormous potential for the expansion of wind and solar. We believe that now is the right time to invest into this high growth market. Together with Partners Group, we are accelerating our activities in the region," VSB Holding GmbH Managing Director Marko Lieske is pleased about the transaction. Hubert Kowalski, Managing Director VSB Energie Odnawialne Polska sp. z o.o., emphasizes the importance of the acquisition for strengthening VSB's market position as a renewable energy developer. VSB started operating in Wroc?aw in 2008 and has, according to its own information, so far commissioned wind turbines with a capacity of around 76 MW in Poland and manages over 300 MW of wind assets. This includes the Taczalin wind farm, which supplies 45.1 MW of green electricity to the Mercedes-Benz plant in Jawor (Lower Silesian Voivodeship). The power purchase agreement (PPA) for this was concluded in the summer of 2018.

Its core business is the national and international project development of wind and photovoltaic parks, their operational management and maintenance as well as the operation of its own parks. In addition, VSB supports industrial and commercial customers in the areas of energy generation and efficiency. So far, more than 700 wind energy and photovoltaic plants with an installed capacity of about 1,100 MW and an investment volume of 1.7 billion euros have been built since 1996. VSB also provides services for plants with a total capacity of around 1,400 MW. The Group and its affiliated companies employ 300 people at 23 locations. Since April 2020, the VSB Group has been part of the Swiss Partners Group, which holds 80 percent of the company's shares as majority owner and, together with VSB, is pursuing the continuation of the national and international growth course.
