N149/4.0-4.5 Turbine: Nordex Group Receives Certifications For Grid Connection In Spain

Hamburg, Germany - Nordex Group has received the equipment certificate (UGE) required for grid connection in Spain for the N149/4.0-4.5 wind turbine as well as the component certificate (CAMGE) for its own wind farm controller (CWE).

Both certificates confirm the required standard-compliant grid connection behavior in accordance with Norma Técnica de Supervisión 2.1 (NTS) by the FGH certification body, Nordex announced.

The certificates have been required for the grid connection of wind turbines in Spain since mid-2020. Within two years these would have to be provided, the Nordex Group can show the necessary certificates for the turbine type N149/4.0-4.5 and the own Windfarm Controller already now.

In Spain, the standard set by the Red Eléctrica de España (REE) applies to the commissioning and grid connection of power plants. Among other things, the standard defines specifications for electricity-generating plants, 'Unidad de Generación de Electricidad' (UGE), and for additional components, 'Componentes Adicionales del Módulo de Generación de Electricidad (CAMGE). Here, technical requirements must be met, such as the behavior in the event of voltage dips in the grid (fault ride-through), active power recovery after grid faults, and power-frequency control of the turbines and the entire wind farm at the grid connection point.

The N149/4.0-4.5 was surveyed in Germany at the Wennerstorf wind farm, south of Hamburg. These data are the basis for the certification of the N149/4.0-4.5 for the Spanish market, which was recently performed by FGH Zertifizierungsgesellschaft mbH in Aachen.

Currently, Nordex Group is supplying ten N149 turbines for the "Celada Fusión" wind farm in northern Spain in the Valles del Cerrato region, Palencia province. It is the first wind farm in Spain with N149 turbines, Nordex said. Another project under construction is the 312 MW "Gecama" wind farm, near Cuenca in the Castilla-La Mancha region, with 65 N149/4.0-4.5 turbines.
