Nordex Receives Orders From USA and Chile

Boston, USA / Hamburg, Germany - In December, wind turbine manufacturer Nordex announced further major orders from the USA and Chile in addition to the large 300 MW order from the USA and a Scotland order reported at the beginning of the month.

Delta turbines: Nordex receives US order from Swift Current Energy

US-based wind and solar project developer Swift Current Energy has awarded the Nordex Group a major contract for a wind farm in the United States. Nordex will deliver 41 N149/4.X turbines with a total capacity of 196 MW.

The Nordex Group's Delta4000 turbines will be used at Swift Current's Castle Gap wind project in Mills and Lampasas Counties in Central Texas. Castle Gap is Swift Current's second major wind farm development in the state, Nordex announced.

The company successfully developed and sold the 550 MW High Lonesome wind project in Crockett and Upton counties in 2019. Swift Current has commercialized more than 1.1 GW of projects since 2016 and has a growing portfolio of more than 6 GW of wind, solar and energy storage projects across North America.

The turbines are scheduled for delivery and installation in summer 2022, with commissioning in late 2022.

"We are very happy to support Swift Current Energy on their way to decarbonize the U.S. electricity sector utilizing our wind turbine technology at the Castle Gap project. The N149/4.X turbines with its flexible power modes will be operated in the 4.8 MW rating to ensure maximum clean power generation at the site,” said Patxi Landa, Chief Sales Officer of Nordex Group.

Turbines for Chile: Nordex receives 110 MW follow-up order from Statkraft

In addition, Nordex has received a turbine order for Chile from Norwegian energy group Statkraft. The order comprises 19 N163/5.X wind turbines.

The Delta4000 turbines are intended for the 110 MW "Torsa" project. The wind farm is being built in central Chile in the Litueche municipality of the General Liberator Bernardo O'Higgins region south of Santiago de Chile.

"Torsa" is the second order Nordex Group has received from Statkraft in South America. It was only at the end of 2020 that Statkraft awarded Nordex Group the contract for the delivery and installation of 91 N163/5.X turbines for the 518.7 MW "Ventos de Santa Eugenia" project in Brazil.

Nordex share price up in December

The share price of the Nordex Group, which is listed in the regenerative share index RENIXX World, was able to increase slightly by 2 percent to EUR 16.01 in December until yesterday (December 29, closing price Stuttgart Stock Exchange). Over the year as a whole, this represents a loss of 27.9 percent.
