British SSE Acquires: Siemens Gamesa Completes Sale Of 3.8 GW Wind Power Portfolio

Zamudio, Spain - Wind turbine manufacturer Siemens Gamesa has announced the final sale of a pipeline of onshore wind farms to UK-based SSE.

The portfolio includes wind power projects with a total capacity of 3.8 GW at various stages of development in France, Greece, Italy and Spain. In addition, photovoltaic projects with a capacity of 1.4 GW can be developed at various locations.

A team of around 50 Siemens Gamesa employees with extensive industry experience in these countries will be integrated into SSE as part of the deal, according to the company.

As a further component of the transaction, Siemens Gamesa will also be given the opportunity to work with SSE Renewables on the deployment of wind turbines and associated long-term maintenance services for a portion of the wind farms that will be installed and operated by SSE over the next few years as part of this sale.

The transaction was completed ahead of schedule.
