Frankfurt/Main, Germany - EDF Renewables has purchased 17 ground-mounted photovoltaic projects in Germany from MEC Energy.

EDF Renewables was selected as preferred bidder following a tender process launched by MEC Energy in 2022. The transaction is based on a conditional sale agreement that also provides for development services for the 17 ground-mounted PV projects. The pipeline comprises a total installed capacity of 529 MWp, with individual projects of up to 99 MWp located in Lower Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and Brandenburg and expected to be completed between 2024 and 2025.

The German consulting company Capcora acted as exclusive M&A advisor on the sell side for MEC Energy. Henning Prigge, Director at Capcora and responsible for the transaction, comments: "We are proud to have played a key role in this transaction as exclusive M&A advisor on the sell side, bringing together two committed players in the thriving renewable energy industry in Germany. This acquisition by EDF Renewables further solidifies MEC Energy's position as a rising player in the solar sector, as they continue to grow and develop innovative projects."
