Energy Network of The Future: Focus on Digitization And Innovative Solutions at EM-Power Europe

Munich, Pforzheim - This year, EM-Power Europe will take place in Munich from June 14 - 16, 2023.

As part of the international trade fair for energy management and networked energy solutions, companies from all over the world will present their digitization concepts and innovative technologies and services for the optimized grid of the future here.

Among the companies presenting their offerings at EM Power Europe is the Swiss weather service provider Meteotest AG. The company collects irradiation and temperature data and, on this basis, creates analyses, profiles and forecasts that can be integrated into the respective monitoring or control software of photovoltaic systems. Companies can then perform the calculation of solar radiation based on the weather forecasts themselves using special programs or purchase them. Grid operators rely on irradiation forecasts to balance the grid’s feed-in and feed-out based on the production and demand forecasts. "Machine learning and AI play a crucial role in the irradiation forecast. The accuracy for the next few hours is quite high", said Jan Remund, head of energy and climate at Meteotest AG.

Also represented at EM Power Europe is Meteocontrol, a monitoring and forecasting specialist based in southern Germany. The company produces yield calculations based on data from various weather service providers. The company also deals with the question of what influence aerosols such as ash and sand grains have on cloud formation. " On March 3 and 4, 2021, our research project “PermaStrom” exemplified how important this issue is. There was a lot of Saharan dust in Europe on those two days. Thanks to optimized forecasts, about three million euros were saved in balancing energy costs in Germany alone", says Stijn Stevens, Managing Director of Meteocontrol.

In addition to the two companies, numerous other exhibitors will be presenting their solutions in the fields of weather and yield forecasting, grid connection, monitoring and analysis software at EM-Power Europe in Munich from June 14-16.

Parallel to EM-Power Europe, Intersolar Europe, EES Europe and Power2Drive Europe will take place in Munich from June 14 - 16, 2023, as part of the innovation platform The smarter E Europe.
