Tender Success: PNE Awarded Contracts For Two New Wind Farms - Expansion of Own Generation Portfolio on Track

Cuxhaven, Germany - Last week, the German Federal Network Agency (BNetzA) published the results of the onshore wind energy tender for the bidding date of August 01, 2023.

A total of 141 submitted bids with a volume of 1,433 MW have been awarded. Despite falling short of the tendered volume of 1,667 MW, the award volume after three of four tender rounds this year in Summer is already around 4,400 MW. This is already 35 percent more than in the full year 2022 with a total of 3,200 MW of award volume.

The PNE Group is also one of the successful companies in the tender round. The wind power projects in "Sundern-Allendorf" and "Gnutz West Ib" were awarded contracts after they had already received their permits at the end of June this year. In "Sundern-Allendorf" in North Rhine-Westphalia, 5 wind turbines with a total rated capacity of 33 megawatts (MW) are to be built, and in "Gnutz West Ib" in Schleswig-Holstein, 4 wind turbines with a total capacity of 22.4 MW. Both wind farms are scheduled to go into operation next year.

"It speaks for the quality of the projects that we have succeeded for the third time in winning contracts for all the projects we put out to tender. We plan to include both wind farms in our own generation portfolio after their completion in order to further expand our position as an independent power producer (IPP)," said Markus Lesser, Chairman of the Board of Management of PNE AG.

The PNE Group's own operating portfolio currently comprises around 350 MW. The objective of PNE AG's corporate strategy Scale up 2.0 is to have own wind farms and photovoltaic plants with an output of 1,500 MW/MWp in operation or under construction by the end of 2027.
