Plug Power Implements Hydrogen Ecosystem: Plug Power Partners With Spanish Logistics Specialist

Slingerlands, USA - The US hydrogen company Plug Power has launched an initiative with the Spanish company Carreras Grupo Logístico to establish the first hydrogen-powered logistics site in Spain.

As part of the collaboration, Carreras' existing lead-acid battery-powered forklift trucks at its logistics center in Masquefa, Barcelona, will be replaced by a fuel cell version. The aim is to improve energy efficiency, productivity and sustainability by switching to green hydrogen, while reducing operating costs and supporting the company's decarbonization path.

The knowledge gained from the project will be used to expand the fuel cell technology to other sites in Spain and integrate it into the Carreras Group's core logistics business, which includes 46 warehouses.

If the project is successful, Plug will supply Carreras Grupo Logístico with a complete green hydrogen ecosystem, including fuel cells and 1 MW electrolyzer, as well as a hydrogen refueling station.

“We are excited to work with Carreras Grupo Logístico to usher in a landmark moment: the first hydrogen-powered logistics site in Spain. This strategic collaboration highlights the transformative potential of hydrogen-powered solutions to achieve the twin goals of decarbonization and operational gains in the logistics sector,” noted Plug Power CEO Andy Marsh about the project.

The Plug Power share price is down slightly in today's trading until the afternoon. The share price currently stands at EUR 1.845. This is a loss of 57 percent compared to the price at the turn of the year.
