PV Tender For 3,700 MW: Saudi Arabia Plans To Expand Renewable Energy to 50 Percent by 2030

Riyadh, Saudi Arabia - The Saudi Power Procurement Company (SPPC) has announced the shortlisted bidders for the Round 5 solar projects under the National Renewable Energy Program (NREP).

The solar projects will entail a total investment of more than 8 billion Saudi Riyals (USD 2.13 billion).

On February 08, 2024, SPPC issued the tender for Round 5 of the solar projects with a total capacity of 3,700 MW (3.7 GW), including the

- 2,000 MW Al-Sadawi Solar PV IPP project - 1,000 MW Al-Masa'a Solar PV IPP project - 400 MW Al-Henakiyah2 solar PV IPP project - 300 MW Rabigh2 solar PV IPP project

Six bids were received for each project in August 2024. The bids were evaluated to ensure compliance with the technical and commercial requirements of the RFP. Now, the shortlisted Round 5 bidders have been made public (pictured).

Under the direction and supervision of the Saudi Ministry of Energy, the NREP aims to increase the share of renewable energy in the Kingdom's energy mix to 50 percent by 2030.
