Tender Success: EDPR Secures Long-Term Contracts For The Company's First Storage Projects in Poland

Madrid, Spain - EDP Renewables (EDPR) has been awarded its first two large-scale battery storage projects in Poland.

The 17-year contracts for the two plants with a total installed capacity of 160 MW and a total storage capacity of more than 640 MWh were awarded by the Polish grid operator (PSE) in the latest capacity market auction.

The projects are located in Wielkopolska and the Mazovian Voivodeship. The plants are to be commissioned by 2026 and 2029 respectively and will contribute to the stability of the Polish electricity grid.

“These contracts mark a significant milestone for EDP in Poland, as they are our first storage projects in a country where we have already invested and installed more than 1GW of renewable projects,” emphasizes Ireneusz Kulka, Country Manager of EDP in Poland.

With these projects, EDP is further expanding its storage business and has already achieved 100 percent of its storage expansion target for the period 2024-2026.
