Nordex Group Wins Large Wind Energy Orders in Brazil and Chile

Hamburg, Germany - The wind turbine manufacturer Nordex Group has received orders from Brazil and Chile with a total capacity of 239 megawatts (MW).

In Brazil, Nordex will supply 24 AW132/3465 turbines for the fourth construction phase of a wind farm complex. The contract also includes a service agreement for maintenance and repair of the turbines for a period of 15 years. The site of the wind farm is located in the state of Rio Grande do Norte near to the city of São Miguel do Gostoso, on the Atlantic. It consists of four individual sections, of which the Nordex Group also set up the 50 AW132 turbines for the first three construction phases. After completion of the fourth phase the wind farm complex will comprise a total of 74 turbines with an overall installed capacity of more than 256 MW. Nordex will install the 24 turbines on 120 metre concrete towers. The company will be producing the concrete towers required in its local factory in Areia Branca, near to the site. The nacelles will be built in the manufacturer's plant in Bahia. As Nordex points out, the manufacturer will also be obtaining the rotor blades from Brazil in order to ensure that the project includes the maximum share of local production.

Nordex also received a large order for building a wind farm with turbines from the Delta4000 generation in Chile. The 156 MW wind farm will comprise 33 N149/4.0-4.5 turbines. In addition to this, the customer has opted for the Premium Service for a period of 15 years. The wind farm is located 30 kilometres to the north of the Puerto Varas city in the Los Lagos region. The turbines will be installed on 145 meter tubular steel towers in order to take maximum advantage of the wind conditions prevailing there. According to Nordex, after its completion 2021 the wind farm will be able to supply 180,000 households with clean electricity.
