Successful Crowdfunding: Start of Construction for First Notus Solar Power Plant in France

Paris, France - As part of a crowdfunding, the Notus Group from Potsdam has organized additional financing of 1.1 million euros for the construction of its first solar power plant in France.

The developer and operator of regenerative energy plants had offered the citizens of the Indre site and the inhabitants of the neighboring departments of Cher, Creuse, Haute-Vienne, Indre-et-Loire, Loir-et-Cher and Vienne the exclusive participation opportunity. "The fact that 1.1 million euros have been collected here shows how attractive the energy system transformation can also be for the local people," says Heinrich Lieser, President of Notus Energy France. This solar park is a great example of successful cooperation at local level, he added.

The construction work for the solar park near Baraize with a total capacity of 15.58 megawatts (MW) officially began on September 14, 2020. After the earthworks currently underway, the fence around the area will be erected and the construction of the substructure will begin. The installation of the PV modules is scheduled to take place at the end of 2020 in parallel with the grid connection. Notus has chosen Jinko Solar as supplier for the 40,000 solar modules. The commissioning of the plant is planned for spring 2021.

The plant, covering an area of more than 20 hectares, is expected to produce 18 million kilowatt hours (18 GWh) of green electricity per year, which in purely arithmetical terms is roughly equivalent to the electricity needs of around 4,000 French households.
