Wind Energy In Poland: Deutsche Windtechnik Takes Over Service For Polish Wind Farm

Bremen, Germany - The Polish subsidiary of Deutsche Windtechnik has been awarded a full maintenance contract for a wind farm in Poland. The ?cieki wind farm belongs to the Green Investment Group (GIG).

It is located in central Poland and comprises eleven Vestas V90 wind turbines. The new contract expands Deutsche Windtechnik's service profile in Poland to include the V90 turbine type.

The agreement between the Green Investment Group and Deutsche Windtechnik includes full maintenance including major components as well as guaranteed energy-based availability of the wind turbines. To ensure service for the wind farm, Deutsche Windtechnik has established new service stations in central Poland. These allow the teams to reach the wind farm quickly and efficiently due to the geographically favorable location.

„The long-term focus of the contract provides certainty to both parties and opens up multiple options for us to consider the requests of the customer, Green Investment Group, such as local presence”, says Wojciech ?u?niak, Country Manager of Deutsche Windtechnik Poland.

Wind energy in Poland has expanded significantly in recent years, but further onshore expansion is currently being slowed down by the 10 H rule that has been introduced. The situation is different for offshore wind energy. According to the plans of the Polish government, offshore wind energy capacity is to increase to a capacity of 8 - 11,000 MW by 2040.

In January 2022, Polish wind turbines fed a total of 2.5 billion kilowatt hours (billion kWh) of electricity into the grid, according to European Grid Operator data (Jan 2021: 1.3 billion kWh). This is a new monthly all-time record in Poland. The highest wind power output to date was reached on Jan. 29, 2022, at around 6,650 MW.
