Wind And Solar Energy - VSB Group Develops Another Large Hybrid Project in Finland

Oulu, Finland - SB Uusiutuva Energia Suomi Oy, the Finnish subsidiary of the VSB Group, is increasing its focus on developing hybrid energy solutions from wind and PV. In the province of North Ostrobothnia, the second wind and PV park is currently in the approval process.

In addition to the wind farm with 49 wind turbines and a capacity of 350 MW, the project will be expanded by a solar farm with 100 MWp on a former peat extraction site. The solar project is currently still in the approval process, but should be completed by the end of 2023.

Hybrid parks as the future of the energy mix offer many advantages: by combining wind and solar energy, they ensure a stable energy supply all year round, and their efficient design enables them to be easily connected to the national power grid without the need for additional line construction. "The combination of solar and wind energy in hybrid projects is not only a sign of innovation, but an essential step on the way to a comprehensive energy transition. It is not an option, but a necessity," says Dr Felix Grolman, CEO of the VSB Group.

According to the Finnish Wind Energy Association, wind turbines with a capacity of around 6,200 MW are in operation in Finland.
