Wind Energy Market: Nordex Receives Order For Wind Farm in Lower Saxony - Vestas Scores in The USA

Münster, Germany - The wind turbine manufacturers and RENIXX groups Nordex and Vestas are reporting further orders this week.

Nordex has received an order from Bioconstruct GmbH for six N163/6.X turbines for the Bösel-West wind farm in Lower Saxony. In addition to the delivery and installation of the turbines, each with an output of 6.8 MW, the contract also includes maintenance of the 40.8 MW wind farm for a period of 20 years.

Nordex will start building the turbines in autumn 2024. Three turbines each will be erected in Lüchow and Wustrow. The commissioning of Bösel-West is planned for summer 2025.

The municipalities within a circumferenc of 2.5 kilometres around the project are to benefit financially from the wind farm's electricity production through a revenue share of 0.2 cents per kilowatt hour. With a planned annual production of 80,000 MWh of electricity, this corresponds to an annual amount of at least 150,000 euros for the municipalities. The municipalities are free to use this money for municipal projects. In addition, landowners and the population of Lüchow and Wustrow have the opportunity to participate in the project.

Nordex competitor Vestas this week announced an order for 239 MW for an undisclosed wind project in the USA. The order comprises the delivery of 53 V163-4.5 MW turbines. In addition to the delivery and commissioning of the turbines, the contract also includes a multi-year service agreement to ensure the optimum performance of the turbines, as in the Nordex project. Delivery of the turbines will begin in the fourth quarter of 2024, with commissioning planned for 2025.

Nordex and Vestas shares were down at the end of the first three days of trading this week. While the Nordex share price fell by 2.4 per cent to EUR 10.15, the Vestas share was down 1.3 per cent at EUR 23.52 (both closing prices on 22 November 2023, Stuttgart Stock Exchange).
